FLY FISHING SEMINAR IN PUEBLO

FLY FISHING SEMINAR IN PUEBLO

PUEBLO, Colo. – The Colorado Division of Wildlife is sponsoring a free "Fly Fishing 101" program on Sat., Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Pueblo State Park.

The purpose of the clinic is to provide participants with the general knowledge on how to get started in the sport of fly-fishing.

"Fly-fishing 101 is geared for beginners and those who have never fly-fished," said Jeremiah Johnson, a District Wildlife Manager with the DOW.  "It’s a great opportunity for a hands-on introduction to fly-fishing."

The seminar takes place in two sessions – indoor classroom instruction, plus "hands-on" fishing instruction on the Arkansas River below Pueblo Reservoir in the afternoon.

The classroom session covers knot-tying, casting, fly selection, gear, and aquatic biology.

The DOW will provide the equipment, but a valid fishing license is required to participate in the hands-on fishing portion.

The seminar is free.  Class size is limited to 20 anglers and pre-registration is required.  For more information, or to register, call (719) 561-5300.

Lake Pueblo State Park is located at 640 Pueblo Reservoir Rd.

The price of an annual fishing license is $26 for Colorado residents.  A one-day license is $9.  Youth under 16 do not need a license.
