How To Buy Snake Food Online

New reptile owners, especially owners ask me how to buy food online. I first want to know why they are interested in buying their food on line. Are they looking for cheap, are they looking for convenience, are they looking to place bulk orders? And the big question is are they talking about frozen mice not live ones?

All of these are good reasons to go online for your food. If you find a reputable provider, they will be able to fulfill all those needs for you. When I go online to buy my Frozen Pinkie mice, I have a few things that I am looking for in a provider. Are your feeders harvested fresh? Do you guarantee their freshness? Are they parasite and disease free?

I also want to know how they are packaged. Some suppliers will bundle all the rodents together and freeze them into a solid block of ice. Every time you want to feed your , you’ll be trying to chip one off the block. Which is kind of gross, and the animal doesn’t come out in the best shape. I prefer my to be individually packaged before they are . This allows you to take just the amount you need, and thawing them out is a snap. Plus your pet will enjoy his or her meal if it hasn’t been gathered with an ice pick.

Another benefit to buying your food online, is the bulk purchase. If you get a supplier who individually packages them like I recommended above, that supply of pinkies will last you months. It will save you making a trip to the pet store every couple of weeks to stock up.

I’m not necessarily saying that buying from a local store is a bad option it is not. Some times the convince factor is being able to run down to your local market when ever you need supplies. And if you don’t have a dedicated freezer, you will have your snakes food sharing the same area as your food. Some people will find this very unappetizing. And if you are buying in bulk quantities, it may take up a lot of space that you can’t use for your own needs.

You also need to figure cost into the equation. You can usually get a better deal by buying in large quantities. But you must also factor in the shipping costs and make sure the total price is still a better bargain than getting a two weeks supply at your local pet store. Depending on where in the country they are located, your pinkies could be making a long trip.

I hope some of these tips helped answer some of your questions about buying food online. I’ll try and continue to give you the best information I have so that you can make an informed decision.
